4-14-2008 On tour.. when are we not? today is a day off and we were so bored that we went and saw 2 movies in the theatre. Leatherheads and 21. The shows have been so insane, really fun. The karaoke nights tour is going over huge and the winners have been great so far. Alot of people have been coming out to see the shows. The Chiodos shows have been really good too. The show goers have really treated us well and alot of our own fans are coming out to see us.. Not much else to report, or maybe i'm just brain dead.

After taking the Tooth & Nail Tour off to be home with my wife and our new daughter, I'm back behind the drums again. I played my first show back at Lifest in Osh Kosh, Wisconsin, and it felt like I had never left. I'm excited for Secret Weapon to come out on Tuesday . It's been getting an overwhelming great response from those that have been listening to it on our myspace page, and I can't wait to play them for you guys live. If you think they kick butt on the record...then you're in for a real treat. See you soon!

It's hot today...we leave in 2 days for the Secret Weapon promo tour. More importantly, the new album Secret Weapon is coming out one week from today! That's right, July 17th and I'm really excited about it. Can't wait to get out there and play the new songs. It's really hard to be home for a few weeks and then leave again. Mainly because I don't have enough time to work on any bigger projects, but just enough time to mow the lawn and get the yard in good order and be on my way. This is normal for my life I guess. Stop by and say hi to friends and family and away we go. I'm really happy about the uplifting response to the new album, it's been really amazing. I've even been sleeping better at night. Less stress and less time lying awake thinking of all the many undone tasks that sit waiting for my in the other room or inside my laptop. Maybe I'm learning to live at this breakneck pace after all these years. Then again, maybe it's just a fluke… I'm sure I'll be lying awake the night before we fly out till the early morning hours, my course anyway which is par for the course, at least, my course anyway. I've got work to do so I'm gonna go away now. And it's really hot in Bremerton today.

We're playing in Tucson tomorrow and all I can think about is having some of our tour managers pizza. It's some of the best I've ever had...ever. If you live in Tucson or nearby, you should go. It's called Rockin Pizza. Look it up and enjoy. Then come to our show July 27th and have an amazing time.

In this particular drama, you the MXPX fan will be playing the part of Obewan. What am I talking about you ask? Well, we're out with Reel Big Fish this summer and without beating around the bush, their fans hate us. So, In order for us to be able to survive the summer without having to see a shrink, we need all of you MXPX fans to come out to the shows and support a band that's been workin' their butts off for you for over 14 years. Did I happen to mention that I love you? Well, I hope to see you in your town this summer. Love, Yuri.

our bus broke down at the Canadian border last night. we were all up and down all night with the border patrol and our bus broke, sort of. we got it running (by we, i mean not me) and made it to the venue in Vancouver, BC. we are now Canadians for 3 weeks. i even got some loonies and toonies to prove it. so as with most mxpx tours, it's off to an exciting and rough start. i think the bus is gonna pull through. it's at the hospital right now, getting some X rays. hope for the best.

so we just left Bremerton and are headed for Vancouver.. i really hope that Canada inspires me.. cause i'm going to try and be creative and all that up here. what i'm trying to say is i am going to be writing some songs on this tour.. or trying to anyway. so if i seem preoccupied.. i probably am, in a good way though. ok. bye.. this probably should have been a journal. i'm making this a journal. and you just read it.

Today we have a show in Eindhoven, Holland. Every time I hear the name of that town I think of WW2. I read a book called Band of Brothers by Stephen Ambrose; it was also an HBO miniseries, which I have seen as well. In the book it goes through the war experiences of easy company of the 506th Infantry Airborne Division. They jump into Holland by parachute (Operation Market Garden), march through the town of Eindhoven and eventually end up in the woods on the outskirts of Fois (not sure how it’s spelled, pronounce foo-wa). They had no winter coats and were also low on rations, ammo and medical supplies after the main supply artery to Bastonia was cuff off. The Germans were occupying the town of Eindhoven, and the surrounding villages. The Americans were basically dug into two different positions for most of that cold snowy winter, watching the front line and not letting any patrols through. The Germans bombed them and bombed them and the guys just dug in deeper. There’s a ton more to the story but this is the part about where I sit up in the dressing room and look out upon snow covered houses and buildings. Some new and some old and I can only imagine what these guys had to go through out in those woods beyond the warmth of a bed and far beyond the borders of the land of their mothers and fathers. There is a white haze on the horizon, which can only mean more snow. And with more snow brings more cold wind that bites the skin and burns while I sit in my luxury and comfort in the 5th floor dressing room that never knew the shaking, earth shattering bombs of the 2nd world war. But this is my life. It is different than it would’ve been in 1944, but it is mine. We all have different lives but there are things that we experience that bring us together and bond us to one another. The important thing is to acknowledge what they are and to be thankful and be humbled by them. Enjoy your life. It’s the only one you’ve got.
